Puff, Part 2
Posted by: Felicia @ 7:08 pm

I know you all remember my award-winning blog from last October (http://ourbigstep.thatisus.com/?p=29) where I talk about all the children’s books and TV shows I grew up with and prefer for our kids over the crap that’s out there today.  Unfortunately all the comments were lost in the system crash a couple months ago.

In honor of the upcoming movie remake of Land of the Lost, which I did watch growing up, I’m opening this back up for all of you to suggest your favorite books, toys or TV shows from the 1970s and 1980s.

I need to add the original Land of the Lost in it’s pre-greenscreen special effects greatness to my list, along with just about anything else from Sid and Marty Krofft.

Help me out.  What else should my future kids be exposed to?

Since Paul has a few years on me….the 70’s part is his territory. He suggests H.R. Pufnstuf, Dusty’s Treehouse, and New Zoo Revue….yeah….he even knows the theme song to that one…lol. Hope it helps you. I loved Mister Rogers, Care Bears, Richie Rich, and Rainbow Brite….when allowed to watch them….unfortunately, with 2 older brothers, I didn’t exactly get control over the TV too often =) We agree….the cartoons of today don’t hold a candle to those of the 70’s and 80’s =)

I like all the stuff on Nick JR. (formerly Noggin) All creative.. some even teach other languages.. Yo Gabba Gabba is kinda cooky.. but still aims at teaching good life lessons to kids. Sophia also likes Veggie Tales. :) (for those who want to teach about God. Sophia just likes the cartoon..
