So, Now What?

As Adam put it, “we finally did it.”  It’s taken us 5 years of trying to become parents to get to this point.  You’d think we’d be all prepared and ready?  Ha!  Clueless would be a better word to describe us, but we’re going to learn.

The purpose of this blog is to both inform our friends and family where we are in the process and to have something to show our kids when they get old enough to understand.  Also, if anyone else wants to go through this, then I hope something we share helps them in their journey.  Finally, we hope to explore the reasons we picked this fascinating country.

First things first, we have to get out application approved.  I guess you can say we already ran into our first snag.  The agency wants a little more information about Adam’s health.  He doesn’t have anything serious, but he has to take medication, and they are asking for a letter from his doctor saying he’s healthy.  We were told that everything else is in order, and that having to get a letter from the doctor shouldn’t be a problem, but they also didn’t tell us our application has been accepted either.  Does this mean our blogging stops right after it starts?  We should know soon.

Meanwhile, we are planning on attending a 1/2 day information seminar on Ethiopia on February 2 to learn more about the culture, and we will get the opportunity to meet other parents who have adopted from there.  You can see that the colors of this site come from the Ethiopian flag.  Hey, it’s a start.
