We had to go up to the agency today to drop off another set of passport size photos and another check (the checks keep getting bigger). Our consultant said that the Dossier is copied and will be sent to Washington on Thursday, and should be certified and back to them the first of the week after Thanksgiving. After that, we’ll be on the list!
Went out to look at flooring for the soon-to-be kids’ bedroom. There’s old yucky carpeting in there - the only original carpeting left in the house. We were shown this easy to install vinal that looks and on the surface feels like hard wood, but is cushy under the feet. We were thinking about putting that down and then putting fluffy rugs around.
Also today went to Penzy’s and picked up spices to make our own berbere (Ethiopian spice, pronounced ber’-ber-ee, basically use like curry), and we found the local Ethiopian grocer and was able to get some shiro powder (basically ground chickpeas), so I can try to make shiro wat, which is my favorite Ethiopian dish so far. While it’s typically a stew eaten with injera, I thought I could make it into a dip with chips to take on Thanksgiving.
