Downsizing

Earlier this week, we got notification that the agency we are using for our adoption is making some big changes, and as a result, our cool awesome social worker will be leaving on September 30.  We’ll miss you Julia!

I’m not in any way concerned that the changes will adversly affect our adoption, but it’s a sign that even adoption agencies are not immune to the downturn in the economy.  It’s not even just that.  China is not allowing nearly as many American adoptions as before, and our agency started in China adoptions.  Then there’s Vietnam and Guatamala imposing moratoriums.  People are seeing this in the news and it’s just not good publicity for international adoptions in general.  They keep telling us that Ethiopia is going strong, and everything I’m finding is convincing of that.

Meanwhile, still no form from CIS.  That’s not our agency’s fault.  The way I see it, as long as no one tells us we can’t adopt, there’s not a whole lot to be upset about.  They’ll be here before we know it.
